Ayurvedic Body Constitution -Kapha

In the science of Ayurveda, it is essential to determine which constitution an individual belongs to. This is done to know the body better and also to diagnose, treat and prevent the health ailments that happen to that body. Said this, unless constitution is unidentified, it becomes difficult for Ayurvedic physician to treat and advise the regimen.

The last among all doshas is kapha dosha which is known for its stability. It is formed with the help of elements earth and water and hence it represents the calming, steady and stable nature. Generally, kapha constitution person is cool and does not get angry quickly. Let us now learn few kapha constitution properties:-

Kapha constitution body is prone to gain bodyweight
Kapha prakriti person might have plenty of hair and blue eyes
As compared to others, the people with kapha constitution walks and moves slowly
In a paradoxical kind of way, ideal kapha constitution person does not continually feel hunger
Kapha constitution person is calmer and placid but have strong emotional feelings
They are generally fond of sweets and music
The skin of kapha constitution person is fleshy, moist and smooth as compared to their counterparts i.e. vata constitution and pitta constitution
The kapha constitution body might have slow digestive fire. Said this, they might find it difficult to digest the food properly
The person with typical kapha constitution will have more perspiration
The heartbeats and pulse rate in kapha constitution will be bit lesser as compared to vata constitution and pitta constitution.

Kapha prakriti person are lazier and sluggish as compared to their counterparts i.e. vata and pitta constitution. This is due to typical kapha dosha properties that include sluggish, stable and cold. The kapha constitution body is described with oily skin and hair as in texts of Ayurveda such as Charaka Samhita.

Kapha also represents to phlegm according to some Ayurvedic scholars and hence, the body with kapha constitution would have more moisture and congestion in it. Said this, the person with kapha prakriti or dominance is prone to have respiratory problems such as congestion in chest or throat, stuffy nose, rhinorrhea, headaches and other congestion related health problems.

The plaques what we know in modern science are nothing but little portions of vitiated kapha dosha according to some Ayurvedic physicians and scholars. It is for this reason kapha dosha people are advised to take care of their cholesterol and lipid profile. They are also recommended with dietary regimen (fat free or low calorie diet), proper physical workout for better health.

    I write you a comment because I found your kapha
    description very relevant, indeed you describe its nature

    I read it carrefully as I a 33 years old man, I am seeking my
    prakti, I mean the original one, I recognize in myself
    vata and pitta, but kapha not so much, it seems it has been put away
    however I remember myself especially as I was a child:
    a big blue eyed boy that was often .remarked in groups calm and quiet,
    then came. too much fear and competition,
