India is one of the most geographically diverse countries in the world. Where at one side you have the towering Himalayas, there on the other side you have majestic water bodies, mangroves and beaches. There is so much to do and see in India that a lifetime may not be enough. For those who are planning their honeymoon, selecting an appropriate destination can be quite a challenge. However, you can certainly pick from one of these beautiful and popular honeymoon destinations.

There are a lot of beautiful churches to visit and a great many luxury hotels that make sure you have the time of your life during your honeymoon.

Leh: for the adventurous couples, Leh offers the perfect honeymooning destination. Slightly offbeat and not really a regular fare for honeymooners, Leh is rife with panoramic vistas. The climate is slightly harsh but it can be quite pleasant during the summer months. You can take your better half for a long trek or overnight camping, or you can simply enjoy the picturesque Himalayan peaks from one of the many hotels in the capital city.

Shimla: though one of the most visited hill station of north India, Shimla still has an old world charm that sets it apart from the other destinations. In winters, if you are lucky enough, you can catch a snowfall. Take a ride in the famous toy train and enjoy the beautiful mountains throughout the 5 hour ride from Kalka to Shimla. Or just hold hands with each other and take a stroll along the famous mall road.

Ooty: the Nilgiri hills hae this beautiful gem. Since long, Ooty has remained at the top in the list of beautiful honeymoon destinations. Drive around the splendid tea and cardamom plantations or simply enjoy the beautiful weather and the blue mists. While at Ooty, do not forget to sample the famous homemade chocolates.

Srinagar: there was a time when Srinagar was synonymous with honeymooning. The capital city of the beautiful Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar is clearly one of the most beautiful places to visit in the country. The spell binding natural beautiful, lush pastures, beautiful lakes and well groomed gardens make it a very popular honeymoon destination.

Darjeeling: the northeast is worth a mention in any list that fir destinations worth visiting in India. Darjeeling is famous for the lush tea gardens on the slopes. This plantation city is also the gateway to further northeast. You can have a relaxing and picturesque holiday here, enjoying each other’s company. If you feel slightly more adventurous, you can try river rafting, canoeing or trekking.

Coorg: located at an easy distance from Bangalooru, Coorg is known to be a beautiful plantation city. Here you will find yourself in the lap of nature. Take a walk through the coffee or orange plantations or visit the Buddhist monastery. While there, try and visit the old fort and the Irupu falls. Coorg also has a lot of famous temples.

Udaipur: the royal city of Udaipur is also known as the city of lakes. A lot of old palaces have been converted into luxury hotels and you can sample a piece of the royalty by renting out a room on one of them. There are lot of forts to visit and some beautiful temples as well. Udaipur is also a delight for any shopper so buy some locally crafted curios and handicrafts while you are there.

Allepey: known as the Venice of India, Allepey is a city of water canals. You can spend a leisurely honeymoon in one of the splendidly appointed houseboats. These boats also take you on a tour around the lake and the backwaters, showing you a glimpse of life in rural Kerala. Check out one of the many lagoons and take a swim if you like.

Lakshadweep: a union territory of India, Lakshadweep is a beautiful island with pristine beaches and clear white sands. Enjoy the tranquil beauty and soak as much sun as you want. This is a great place to feel one with nature and enjoy each other’s company. You can try out some adventure sports if you like.

    Hey Neha, Great article. Indeed India offers a lot for everyone. Latest choice for honeymoon destination is shifting to Andaman & Nicobar islands as well as Daman & Diu. These islands are unexplored and less of travelers traffic which every honeymooner is looking for,
